Ava Wescott (b. 17 April 1960) was a half-blood witch, daughter of Laura and Cole Wescott and only child to the pair. She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1971 to 1978, although it was originally planned for her to attend Salem Institute of Magic. After the First Wizarding War, she returned to her home in North Carolina, U.S.A., and opened small apothecary whilst holding a part-time lecture job in Potions on Salem Institute of Magic.
Born in small town of Aurora in North Carolina where her family moved in early 1950s, Ava is the only child of Laura and Cole Wescott. Laura was disowned by her family promptly after announcing her engagement to muggleborn wizard of American descent nonetheless, Cole Wescott. The two met in the International Wizarding Congress and after very short time, announced their engagement. Unlike Laura’s family, Cole’s family accepted her straight away and Cole’s parents gifted them a house in Aurora. Because of her mixed heritage, a decision was to be made whether Ava will attend Salem Institute of Magic or Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, considering that all members of Laura’s maternal and paternal side attended it.
Hogwarts Years (1971-1978)Edit
In the end it was decided she would attend Hogwarts when she reached age of eleven. Although she had a clear American accent, her mother Laura spent three years teaching her how to have a British accent so she can avoid being singled out because she lived in America. She met Annabelle Seymour , Lily Evans, Alice Morgan and Selena Wynn right after the sorting ceremony whilst heading for the same dormitory. From early start, Ava showed great progress in potions, earning the best grades consecutively every year, allowing her later to run successful apothecary. Unlike her friend Annabelle, she had no wish to become an Animagi although she knew Remus Lupin’s secret and detested the behaviour James Potter and Sirius Black held for a good part of their educational years. Unknown to general public’s knowledge, she had a serious relationship with Lupin that lasted until the First Wizarding War during which Lupin left her in order to protect her, something Ava had hard time acknowledging and never came to terms with it.
First Wizarding WarEdit
As an Auror, she was almost always on the front line fighting Death Eaters. It was ironic because it was the same danger that caused Remus Lupin to break up with her. Because of James and Sirius' absence, she and Lily were the only ones present when Annabelle' daughter, Alane was born. Along with Annabelle, Sirius, Remus and Selena she attended wedding of Lily and James Potter but was not present for Harry’s christening unlike Alane’s to whom she is her godmother.
Life Between The WarsEdit
After the death of the Potter’s and Sirius’ imprisonment, Ava returned to her hometown Aurora where she opened successful apothecary business after rejecting offer of U.S. Ministry of Magic to work as Auror in their ranks. She is also a part-time lecturer in Potions Class in Salem Institute of Magic where her goddaughter Alane has been attending since the age of eleven.
