As the first years were getting sorted into their houses, I was standing right by Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan whom i'd just met on Hogwarts Express and befriended. Seamus' name was called first. I could tell he was nervous. He was shaking, terrified. As he sat down on the stool and had the old and worn-out sorting hat placed on his head, Dean and I were watching him carefully to see which house he would get placed into.
Finally after a couple of seconds the sorting hat said,
"Hmm yes..I see bravery....and loyalty...i know.....GRYFFINDOR!"
The entire Gryffindor table roared and shouted, and I could tell that Seamus was ecstatic. Then Dean was called up to be sorted. I told him good luck and then he went to the front. I could tell he was nervous. Actually, when I think about it, everyone was scared. When the sorting hat was placed on his head. It didn't take long for the hat to choose which house Dean would be in.
The hat said, "I see...bravery..trust....and loyalty...better be...GRYFFINDOR!"
Once again, the entire Gryffindor table screamed and shouted. Then a couple of other first years were called up. Then it was my turn.
"Lily Evothelia." Professor McGonagall announced.
It was nerve-wracking, going up to the stool. It felt as if my whole life was about to change within an instant, and in a way it was. As I slowly walked up the couple of steps that led to the stool where I stood, I was one step closer to truely knowing where my future would lie. I sat down on the stool and Professor McGonagall set the ratty-looking hat on top of my head as it examined me.
