Forever Changing is a Lupin/Tonks fanficiton story by the user Hermione524. It takes place in the generation of the Marauders, most of it in Tonks' fifth year (Lupin's seventh).
A Slightly Contradictory StoryEdit
A few things in "Forever Changing" contradict what has been stated in the Harry Potter books. This is because the author has been taking creative liberties. She is not trying to rewrite characters' histories or change things or say the books are somehow wrong.
It is implied that Remus Lupin becomes a werewolf the summer before his fourth year. In the books, it is stated that he was a very young child when he was bitten by Fenrir Greyback.
Although it is not stated in the books how far apart in age Lupin and Tonks are, Tonks is probably more than two years younger than Lupin. However, since this fact remains unknown, the author decided on ages.
It is implied throughout the books that Metamorphagi have complete control over their appearance. However, in Chapter 3 of Forever Changing, Tonks mentions that she is having a hard time controlling her appearance, and that it is getting harder and harder.
Nymphadora Tonks (who prefers to be called by her last name) is a Hufflepuff. For most of the story she is in fifth year, but we have seen her before Hogwarts, in first year, in second year, and in third year. She is a metamorphagus, which means that she can change her appearance at will. She is like Luna Lovegood in that people hide her things and make fun of her.
Remus Lupin is a Gryffindor. For most of the story, he is in seventh year. It is revealed early on in the story that he is a werewolf.
Lily Evans is Tonks' best friend. She is a seventh year Gryffindor who was both a prefect and a head girl. She is extremely popular.
James Potter is a minor character in the story. He is the one who makes sure that Tonks knows that Lupin is a werewolf, though it was Lupin's idea. He conveniently forgot to tell Tonks about the trick step in the staricase during her first year.
Sirius Black is a very minor character. He is very mischevious but also nice. He once helped Tonks pick up her things after her bag broke, but he stole a couple of Sickles from her in the process.
Peter Pettigrew is only mentioned as one of the Marauders.
